Martham Primary & Nursery School is signed up to ‘tubs4tablets and need YOUR help to collect as many as possible to enhance teaching and learning across  our school. 

Please drop in your tubs ASAP and let’s see how many tablets we could get for the school!

Martham Primary remembers, at school.

Earlier today Martham Primary pupils took part in a Remembrance Day celebration outside within our school grounds.

The children gathered around a piano to sing war time song, amongst the handmade poppies lining the pathway into school.

We were lucky enough to have a visitor into school for the day who played the Last Post during our service and our thanks go to her for giving up her time to come and play for us.

 

 

All the pupils and the staff fell silent for 2 minutes at 11am. We were joined by parents and members of the surrounding community.

Martham Primary remembers, at church.

This morning, B3/4 and 2 pupils from all other classes represented the school as a whole at the war memorial within the churchyard of

St. Mary's Church for Remembrance Day.

 

 

 

They took part in a short service led by Duncan Laxford which was also attended by local members of the Martham community.

A wreath was placed during the service and several of the children planted handmade poppies around the base of the memorial.

Library/Children in Need Book Sale

The school library will be holding a secondhand booksale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week during breaktimes/lunchtimes in aid of Children in Need. All books will be priced at 5p, 10p, 15p or 20p. Come along and grab a bargain! 

Poppy Knitting Pattern

Here is the knitting pattern to create Mrs Elliott's knitted poppies.


You will need:
                        Red wool
                        Knitting needles size 12 (if possible)

Cast on 120 stitches
Knit 4 rows
Knit 3 stitches together across the row of needles (40 stitches remain)
Knit 4 rows
Knit 2 stitches together across the row (20 stitched remain)
Knit 4 rows
Kniw 2 stitches together across the row (10 stitches remain)
Cut the wool and pass through the 10 stitches on the needle.
Gather and sew the sides together.
Add a decorative button to the centre.

Years 5 and 6 houses.

 

 

Year 5 and 6 have been researching houses from the Iron age to the Tudor times.

 

The pupils used their gained knowledge to make 3D models.

 

 

We then set them up

as a village scene on

display in school.

We think we have a lovely table top display.

 

Harvest Hope

Harvest is a time of year that we celebrate. We give thanks to the farmers at this time of year for all their hard work. We always think about the people that haven’t got much food, in the UK and other countries.

For this year’s Harvest Assembly, titled ‘Harvest Hope’, we practised and learnt lots of songs. We decorated boxes with harvest pictures and colours and put our donations of food inside them. We rehearsed the Assembly together as a whole school to prepare us to perform in front of visitors.

Near the beginning of the Assembly some year 5s and 6s performed a traditional dance to music. Miss Brown’s year 2 class sang a brilliant ‘Vegetable Rap’ and looked pretty cool. L3, B3/4 and SK4 all read out their Harvest themed poems they were brilliant and spoke loudly so everyone could hear.

Throughout the assembly Year 5s were acting out a script that tied all of our songs together.

The choir sang beautifully throughout the Assembly and all of the audience thought their voices were spectacular! ‘Can You Hear Me?’ was a particular favourite and was really poignant.

The Assembly was brought to a close by year 6 representatives by reading out a prayer which echoed the words of ‘Can You Hear Me?’

One of the visitors stood at the end of the assembly to say thank you for their invitation and that they thought the assembly was really good. They also thanked the school for all their donations of food to help them through the winter.

We all loved and enjoyed the assembly and can’t wait for another one!
